Have you ever wanted to support up-and-coming bands or contribute insightful commentary on the airwaves?

Has anyone ever told you that you have a good radio voice, but you didn’t know how to utilize it?

Or have you ever thought about making an impact on the face of radio forever?

Then, KUCI 88.9 FM in Irvine is the place for you!

KUCI 88.9 FM is Orange County’s premier radio station for “music and talk unique to the radio dial”… and you can be the next big DJ or talk show host.

If you are interested in becoming a DJ or Talk Show Host then join us for our Fall Training class, where you’ll learn how to use KUCI’s equipment, the ins-and-outs of FCC policy, how you can create your own professional radio show, and have fun doing it.

Our Fall training begins Tuesday, October 6, 2026 and will be held in HICF 100-K. Need directions?  Find them here. The class meets IN PERSON once a week for eight successive weeks from 7 – 8:30 PM.

Only enrolled UCI students, faculty, and staff are qualified to train in any of the four academic quarters during the year — January, April, July, or October.

INTERNSHIPS

KUCI extends a warm invitation to apply to our Public Affairs internship. This program offers students the opportunity to learn and apply professional skills in broadcast media, journalism, public speaking/communication, and public affairs. Students can gain academic credit for this internship via enrollment in WRIT 197. Previous experience is not required. For more information, see the internship syllabus.
