Dee Batiste

9 – 10 am
Ask A Leader
with Claudia Shambaugh
Inquiring minds wanna hear

Our guest for the full hour will be entrepreneur consultant, military veteran, author, and activist Dee Batiste, based in Nashville. She will breakdown what is Project 2025: a 900-page document of proposed policies, built by a coalition of 110 conservative groups, “advocating for the next conservative president,” or any future Republican administration.  Instead of a test at the end, consider this an ongoing teach-in that is taking place in small and large circles across the country, to understand the complete overhaul of the federal government. Some of these measures are already institutionalized.  Your KUCI hosts are covering and will continue to cover this into the exhausting slog toward the general election, and for as long as this long game looms over all public institutions.  If you’re new to Project 2025, now is a good time to begin understanding its far-reaching facets and redistributive outcomes. When local political scientists return to their academic saddles, we will hear their takes.

In the Garden
with UCCE Master Gardeners
Home Gardening

Soon enough, if you find yourself wishing to stroll through a magnificent public garden, you won’t have to travel to places like San Marino, Claremont, Santa Barbara, or Encinitas anymore. This week’s In The Garden with UC Master Gardeners show is all about the future Great Park Botanical Garden in Irvine California. Our own Teena Spindler sat down with Sean O’Malley, Managing Principal for SWA Group (the designing/planning company involved) to reveal the much-anticipated master plan for the Great Park and, specifically, the Botanical Garden that will be the envy of the world! Taking elements from similar, established Gardens, SWA has incorporated everything important to see in an arroyo garden that will be adjacent to the Agua Chinon Wash, a wildlife corridor that runs from the mountains towards the sea. Imagine taking a relatively flat portion of land once used as an airbase and transforming the topography to facilitate the movement of water! Learn about the future, adventurous children’s garden, cultural gardens, and colorful and inspiring celebration garden to be built around existing historical remnants of what once was an Orange County, and American, landmark. Learn more at Irvine Great Park master plan, California – e-architect.
