July 20, John Shelby, a victim of one of the worst kinds, and least known about types of Identity Theft-Criminal Identity theft.
John Shelby is a victim of one of the worst kinds, and least known about, types of Identity Theft. He is a victim of Criminal Identity theft, the type
of identity theft where a criminal uses someone else's personal information or identification upon arrest for unrelated crimes and gets permanently confused
in the system as that person. In most cases, this is done by a sibling, relative, or close friend that would know a lot of personal information. It's pretty
rare because it is hard to get away with and it takes a very special and desperate type of person to even attempt. Thankfully, in most situations, the arresting
officers or at least the magistrate are able to detect that the perpetrator is being untruthful about their identity before the false information is entered
into the system. In extreme cases, the perpetrator gets away with passing themselves off as someone else and can even be convicted of crimes under that person's
name and personal information. The worst part? This can all go undetected by the victim for years.
Unfortunately for John Shelby, his case is one of the most extreme cases of criminal identity theft on record. A career criminal, Jason Michael Newton,
was able to pass himself off to arresting officers as John upon arrest for a robbery charge. Due to this attempt at deception and some suspect police
work by the El Paso Police Department, this "snowball" began an avalanche of calamities for Mr. Shelby. Within a few months of this initial deception, John
Shelby had seven felonies on his record (including Capitol Murder), had multiple warrants for his arrest, had lost his career, had lost everything, was
homeless and living on the streets in Virginia Beach, Va., and his background check was showing that he was serving a life sentence for murder. The worst
part about all of this was that in the way it was done, it was undetectable by Mr. Shelby. He really just thought for years that he was the unluckiest
human on the planet. Maybe he was.
Mr. Shelby, eventually, was able to get an expuncture of his record. Eleven years after the initial night that the first arrest happened. But so much damage
had already been done. Damage to his reputation, his resume, and his constitutional civil rights. Some of this damage is not fully repairable. A very hard and
undeserved life for a Disabled Navy Veteran.
John Shelby now resides in Clermont, Fl. with his wife of 13 years Bethany and his 2 children (Makenna age 11, and Maddox age 5). He now uses his
personal nightmare to make others aware of the effects of Identity Theft. He uses his website goodnamegone.com and his "Good Name Gone" Facebook
page not only to tell his own story, but to inform people of national security breaches and tidbits of practical ways to safeguard your identity.

Public Radio, BBC Newsnight, BBC Radio, British Sky "Tonight" and "Sunday," TF1 (French TV) and Greek national television.

well as its companion book, which focus on key cultural events of the 20th Century. The series received two Silver World Medals at the New York Film and

Apr 20, Geoff Revill, Founder and CEO/Managing Director Krowdthink, Ltd.
As the CEO and Managing Director of Krowdthink Ltd Geoff conceived and defined The Krowd. A Social Network Service to be launched on Apple
App store and Google Play March 30th 2015.
What makes The Krowd different - apart form its co-location technology that enables location-based services without tracking location - is
its total focus on building a customer-centric mobile social network that engenders trust from its users. Privacy is a big building block
of that trust objective, but what makes Krowdthink and The Krowd different is the Trust framework it has built and the recognition of how,
where and why privacy fits into an implementation of that trust framework, and what else is needed.
The Krowd concept came about a few years ago when Geoff's 13 year old daughter asked "Daddy can I have a Facebook account?" - Daddy, being deeply
immersed in technology and marketing, said "No way" - or words to that effect, explaining why putting your personal life into the hands of
commercial entity whose soul purpose is to make money from who you are was a deeply unwise way to embark on ones digital life. To which his
wife asked a deeply insightful question (as partners often do) "So what's the alternative?".
This question nagged, and set Geoff on the road to self education as to what is privacy, socially and legally, why is it important online? How can
you deliver it? And perhaps the most important realization of all - that change in the commercial world would only come about if a truly competitive
product entered the market adhering to new and far more customer centric values, values that are ultimately set in order to aspire to becoming a
trustworthy social networking provider.
Geoff has spent the last 10 years as an independent strategic marketing consultant, helping some of the most innovative silicon and software companies
break into and position themselves in the core ecosystems of tech markets. Previously he worked in California after the company for which he was VP
Europe was acquired by what ultimately became Intel's Internet of Things systems and software division. Geoff built out that company from a European
turnover of $50k to $10m in just over 4 years and was made VP Europe for the company that acquired his company due to the strength of their EU market
position. When that company was acquired he finally succumbed to the lure of Silicon Valley in order to manage 5 acquired product lines into one new
product set, managing 10 Product Managers, 300+ software engineers and field sales force of over 1000, all of whom knew best about product
direction - perversely this was actually fun.
Geoff is happiest making an impact through innovation. Some people avoid change, some of us love it - it what makes the technology
sector so interesting - the rate of change.
