What's next in TA dispute?

Irvine: Subversity this evening focuses on the question, "What's next?" in relation to the TA strike, which "recessed" Monday, after state legislators wrote letters to UC Pres. Atkinson supporting the student workers. The recess is for 45 days while both sides "talk".

Subversity host Dan Tsang interviews Student Workers Union representatives as well as UCI faculty members Heidi Tinsman (History), who was involved in the Yale strike, and John Rowe (English) who has been circulating a petition among Senate faculty seeking support for recognition of the student workers.

Tsang's op ed piece Sunday in the Los Angeles Times predicted that Atkinson would begin negoitating with the student workers. Talks are expected to begin in less than 10 days. The op ed piece, "Echoes of Ann Arbor..." is at: Echoes

The program on gay teens is postponed till next Tuesday. Subversity airs each Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. on KUCI, 88.9 FM in Orange County and is webcast live at kuci.org:8080.
