Panel discussion on homosexuality in China etc. on radio

Irvine -- Subversity, a public affairs radio program on KUCI, 88.9 FM, will broadcast the first part of a panel discussion on homosexuality in China and elsewhere in Asia that took place last Saturday evening, August 31 at University of Southern California in Los Angeles. The show airs this evening, September 2, 1997 from 5-6 p.m. on KUCI, 88.9 FM in Orange County. Part II will be broadcast later.

Panelists on tonight's broadcast include Chinese gay activist and visiting scholar at USC, Wan Yanhai, quoted in today's New York Times front-page story on homosexuals in Shanghai www.nytimes.com. Wan and about a dozen others from the Chinese diaspora founded this weekend the Chinese Society for the Study of Sexual Minorities, one of the sponsors of the panel discussion. The panel discussion was also sponsored by China Rainbow Association and One Institute.

Articles (in Chinese ) on the group and the panel discussion appeared yesterday in Chinese Daily News (two articles) and Sing Tao Daily.
