Witnesses Testify to Police Harassment

Irvine -- In light of Thursday's hearing by an advisory committee to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission in Costa Mesa, Subversity is pleased to present a program highlighting testimony from Asian American youth about their experiences being detained by police throughout Orange County, and queried about gang ties.

The show airs Tuesday, May 27, 1997, from 5-6 p.m. on KUCI, 88.9 FM in Orange County. You can call the show at (714) 824-KUCI.

The show's host is Daniel C. Tsang, who has been asked to testify Thursday before the commission in his role as co-founder of the Alliance Working for Asian Rights and Empowerment (AWARE).

The commission fact-finding hearings last all day Thursday, May 29, at Westin South Coast Plaza, San Carlos Room, 686 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tsang will testify at the community activists portion of the hearing after lunch, from 1 p.m. on. The public is invited; there is also an open mic for anyone to testify.
