Teen Skateboarders on KUCI's Subversity

Irvine -- The Skateboard Park movement has spread to Irvine! Tomorrow's edition of the KUCI Subversity interview program will feature two high school students who are trying to get a skateboard park created in Irvine. Blake Reigle and Mark Rabe, both 15, are freshmen at Irvine High School. Saturday, they circulated their petition at a one-time Streetwise SK8 Contest at a parking lot next to the Irvine Police Department, but the teens want to be able to skate at a more permanent facility. The KUCI program airs Tuesday, May 13, 1997, from 5-6 p.m. on KUCI, 88.9 FM in Orange County.

Last January, Subversity presented an interview with Randy Hyatt, a 13-year-old from Rancho Santa Margarita, who is leading a drive there to get a skateboard park established.

In Laguna Hills, the city council is expected to debate the skateboard ban tomorrow at its 7 p.m. meeting.

Subversity's host is Daniel C. Tsang. For more information, check the Subversity Web site: http://www.kuci.org/~dtsang/subversity, or e-mail subversity@kuci.uci.edu.
