Tran plays an Amerasian gang member in Loc Do's "Bastards" (1996), which had its world premiere last Saturday at Orange County's first Vietnam Film Week in Garden Grove. Tran also produced the independent feature, which is being shown in Europe this week. In "Bastards," his mother is played by Le Hiep Thi, who protrayed Le Ly Hayslip in Oliver Stone's "Heaven and Earth." Tran portrayed a Vietcong soldier who rapes Hayslip in the Oliver Stone movie.

A Vietnamese-language film, "Tears of Ice" (a ghost story with little dialog) follows at 9:30 p.m.; its cast and director Vo Doan Chau will also be present.
