Irvine -- "Subversity," a KUCI public affairs program, this evening presents an interview with Mike A. Males, the author of the just-published "The Scapegoat Generation: America's War on Adolescents" (Common Courage Press).

Males, a former Montana reporter, is a Ph.D student in social ecology at UC Irvine. A prolific writer, his essays have appeared in progressive publications as well as the NY Times. His 329-page book challenges conventional views that adolescents are sexually irresponsible or that teenagers are more violent than adults. He is also a former president of the Montana Children's Trust Fund board of directors. The board administers the state's child abuse prevention programs.

Interviewing Males is show host Daniel C. Tsang, a UC Irvine social sciences bibliographer and lecturer. The show airs this evening from 5-6 p.m. on KUCI, 88.9 FM in Orange County. Listeners can dail (714) 824-KUCI to chat with the guest.
