Mike Davis on Global Protests

Irvine -- As a longtime anti-war and labor activist, UCI history professor Mike Davis takes an incisive look at the global protest movements on today's edition of Subversity, a KUCI public affairs program.

He also talks about Orange County, teaching at UCI (definitely not forever), the elitism of UCI, the history of U.S. imperialism (e.g., in Philippines) and whether or not students should remain in school.

Davis' prolific intellectual output includes Dead Cities, City of Quartz Ecology of Fear, LA Was Just the Beginning, Late Victorian Holocausts, Magical Urbanism, and Beyond Blade Runner, all available at the UCI Libraries.

Joining in the discussion is Stefano Sensi, local activist and an associate adjunct professor of neurology.

The show airs this afternoon from 4-5 p.m. on KUCI, 88.9 fm in Orange County, California, and is Web-cast simultaneously via http://kuci.org.

The Taco Bell boycott hunger strike has begun outside Taco Bell HQ at 19701 Von Karmann in Irvine. See http://www.ciw-online.org/ for more info.
