Irvine -- Subversity, a KUCI public affairs program, this afternoon (5-6 p.m.) airs highlights from a forum on CIVIL LIBERTIES? HOMELAND SECURITY? YOUR RIGHTS UNDER THE LAW? The forum took place last night, Thursday, November 15, 2001, at UCI.
The forum featured Carol Sobel, prominent civil rights attorney and former staff attorney for Southern California ACLU, and Niels Frenzen, Clinical Assistant Professor of Law at University of Southern California Law School. Sobel was one of my ACLU attorneys in Tsang v. CIA.
The forum, moderated by UCI's Mark Poster, was sponsored by UCI-Response and the Humanities Center.
Both speakers focused on the erosion of civil liberties post 9/11, addressing its specific effects on non-U.S. citizen political activists.
