What happened in Genoa?

Irvine -- What happened in Genoa, where thousands of G-8 protesters were faced with the repressive forces of the state? Subversity, a KUCI public affairs program, talks with a UCI professor who served as a medic on the frontlines on the streets of Genoa last week.

Just back from Italy, Stefano Sensi, an assistant adjunct professor of neurology at UCI, and a long-time Italian activist, reports on what he saw and what role the "black bloc" played in the protests. A day after a 23 year-old protester, Carlo Giuliani, was shot dead by a policeman, and run over by a police jeep, authorities raided the headquarters of protesters, beating many.

The Subversity show airs from 5-6 p.m. today on KUCI, 88.9 fm in Orange County, Calif., and is web-cast simultaneously via kuci.org. Call 949 824-5824 to chat with Sensi.

Show host Dan Tsang and Sensi recently interviewed anarchist librarian Chuck Munson for essay that appeared in the Italian left magazine Carta (www.carta.org) right before the G-8 meeting. Munson designed the anarchist Spunk Library (www.spunk.org) and is an editor at Alternative Press Review (www.altpr.org). We expect to air a part of the interview on this and future shows.
