Congressman Major Owen's hearings on Pacifica

Irvine -- Subversity, a KUCI public affairs program, this afternoon features the first hour of the May 15, 2001 hearings in Congress on the Pacifica radio network situation. The show airs from 4-5 p.m. on KUCI, 88.9 fm in Orange County, and is Web-cast at kuci.org.

The hearings focus on public accountability and access for alternative voices on the network.

The hearings were convened by New York congressman Major Owens (a librarian), who himself was cut off the air during a March 5 interview on WBAI, the Manhattan Pacifica station.
