GLOBALIZATION: VOICES OF RESISTANCE
A one-hour radio program exploring economic globalization produced by the National Radio Project's globalization desk.
On this special radio program, people from around the world share stories about their lives and explain how economic globalization has affected their wages and working conditions. We discuss what it all means for democracy, human rights, women, and the environment.
Youll hear community based organizers from Senegal, Kenya, Eritrea, Haiti, and the United States who are part of an international movement for debt relief. Other creative solutions are explored such as an initiative to curb currency speculation, and the Brazilian peasants land reform movement.
The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Trade Organization are some of the institutions shaping the worlds economic policies. We discuss how these world finance and trade structures benefit transnational corporations often at the expense of communities. Youll hear analysts and activists from Mexico to Malaysia describe the effects of current globalization policies on labor and the environment.
