KUCI friends and enemies,

Yesterday, Parenthetical Girls and PWRFL POWER and Au played at UCI, outside at the Student Center's Terrace Stage. It was really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really great. Not a lot of people came but I think everyone had fun.

And then there were records:

Spiritualized - Songs In A & E [Fontana International/Spaceman]
I wish sole permanent member Jason Pierce's last name was actually 'Spaceman.' Then, in the case that I ever met him, I would ask him to see his ID, and it would say "Jason Spaceman" and then I would take a picture of it and possibly consider changing my last name to something celestial, like 'Star' or 'Solarflare' or 'Spacejunk'.

Ladytron - Velocifero [Nettwerk]
To be honest, I don't know a whole lot about Ladytron other than that they have exceedingly stylish coifs. I think they play "dark" "dance" music.

The Futureheads - This Is Not The World [nul]
This band is cool. Wikipedia says "The Futureheads are a four-piece English post-punk revival band from Sunderland." That sounds patronizing! "Post-punk revival." Does that mean that (25 minutes of distracted websurfing). Futureheads. They are solid, dapper, and [HIGHLY RECCD].

The Gang - Zero Hits [Absolutely Kosher]
This is wacky and rocking. Absolutely Kosher is a solid label, they do good things. Play meeeee.

Ponies In The Surf - See You Happy [Darla]
Darla records is really putting out some good stuff (too)! Weird folky-sometimes rocking-othertimes fun-allthetimes spanglish brother-and-sister loveliness.

"UNOFFICIAL" ADDS

Mount Righteous - When The Music Starts [Self-Released]
A wholly acoustic marching band playing songs about cupcakes and sea men? Definitely. The cutest 10+ person band in the U.S. of A.? Maybe.

Lloyd & Michael - Just As God Made Us [States' Rights]
Currently local stalwart Katy Davidson's most recent project. Fun fun fun poppy mellow songs with lots and lots of <3. FUNFACT: her girlfriend is a UCI grad student. RIP 'EM (ANT)EATERS!!!

The Great White Jenkins - Mussel Souls [Self-Released]
Soul-searching-gospel-country-weirdo-rock. A fantastic EP. Track 3 RULES but they say "shit" in the chorus.
