Part Time - What Would You Say – (Mexican Summer)
Covered in glitter love-in-a-hopeless-place pickup-line-repelling world-is-yours synth pop. It's empowering in every positive, emotional, and social way. Sounds like when you've had too much to drink and every song that you hear immediately becomes your favorite song.

Lotus Plaza - Spooky Action At A Distance – (Kranky)
Steal-my-sunshine delivery mixed with every melodic feedback-ground filler you've ever heard in a song. Unlike his previous releases, Spooky action at a distance is confident in song structure, vocal stylings, and musical ability, rejecting an ambiguity that had historically left listeners deeply lost. Now listeners are lost in a different way, as she tries to focus on what classic pop/folk/shoegaze trope he devotes himself to on each track, eventually realizing that she had already been distracted to the something else more beautiful, important, essential and embracing.

Willis Earl Beal - Acoustamatic Sorcery – (XL)
Jandek-y sincere and anything but contrived basement no-wavey anti-pop blues recordings. Everything on this album sounds boundless, bare bones, contortioned, organic, and entirely necessary--adding no superfluous flair that so much blues mistake as essential.

Screaming Females - Ugly – (Don Giovanni)
Dancing shoes in your face anthemic driving-basslines hyper melodic guitar solos galore that screams looks aren't everything.

Metal Alvin - Metal Alvin – (Blonde)
Dreary goth-on-purpose black on black drone-folk with unrestrained, honest, and deeply cutting vocal stylings and lyricism.

Alex Winston - King Con – (V2)
Upfront no filler all killer country-tinged (my favorite phrase) on the road, but I have no idea where they are going. It's all about the journey anyways, right?
