The Magnetic Fields - Love At The Bottom Of The Sea – (Merge)
New romantic theatrical and too-clever-for-their-own-good sad-pop by the Magnetic Fields that marks a return to their earlier 90s synth based bubbly demented personal headphones-only disco party sound. Less conceptual than their previous Realism, Distortion, and I, Love At The Bottom Of The Sea sounds more like a mutant mixtape of lost radiophonic workshop and Phil Spector songs that can only be found in the deepest depths of Rick Santorum's workout playlist. Also, Stephen Merritt recently got a chihuahua, explaining why this album is slightly chippier than usual.

Nite Jewel - One Second Of Love – (Secretly Canadian)
Moving on from her hazy identity-ambiguous non-commital lo-fi every-song-stuck-in-your-head discopop of Good Evening, One Second Of Love marks a radical stylistic shift to a more polished mechanical upfront confident disjointed fun heart-felt neo-classical avant-R&B sound. Her new album stays with you in a more substantial way, and its sincerity is deeply admirable.

Disappears - Prelanguage – (Kranky)
Classic sounding psyched-out face-melting repetitive wall-of-sound post-punky space-rock, like Spacemen 3 meets The Fall, with Iggy Pop-type vocal stylings and arrogance. Steve Shelly of Sonic Youth plays drums for them now!

Lost In The Trees - A Church That Fits Our Needs – (Anti)
Mystical, all drinking the kool aid, whimsical orchestral church choir beautiful melancholic folk pop.

Souvenir Driver - Joy – (Self released)
Laid back in-the-times reverb drenched golden zoned-out fuzz pop with a mysterious drowned-out disembodied vocal presence. Kinda spooky!

Ceremony - Zoo - Matador)
Super melodic mellowed-out aggressive non-stop burned-out catchy posi-post-hardcore. Allmusic calls it cool & cocky.

Kishi Bashi - 151a – (Joyful Noise)
Member of Of Montreal, makes theatrical immense fancy pants complex and thoughtful positive baroque pop that makes you want to kishi all your bashis.

Oberhofer - Time Capsule II – (Glassnote)
After Time Capsule I, there is Time Capsule II. Who knew a sequel would even make it to the silver screen. The story of Oberhofer is a forward in time one. It's hi-fi bombastic anthemic positive energetic indie rock that makes you ask: Isn't like time just a social construct or whatever?

Various Artist - Team Mint 20 – (Team Mint)
New sampler comp of bands on the coolest (hehe) and refreshing (hoho) record label in Vancouver. There's a P:ano song that is the jam.
