CLEOPATRA SCENE: THE COOK / 1918
Directed by Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle
The 1918 silent short film The Cook focused on the shenanigans of Roscoe Arbuckle as the Cook and Buster Keaton as the Waiter in a upper crust restaurant. With Arbuckle dancing drag in pots and pans, this clip spoofs screen goddess Theda Bara for her roles in both Cleaopatra (1917) and Salomé (1918). The entire film was believed to be lost until 1996, when it was uncovered in the vaults of the Norwegian Film Institute. Unfortunately the print was incomplete when found. What remains is currently available on DVD as The Cook and Other Treasures.
