Tobacco Wars discussion topic of "Subversity"
Irvine -- Is the proposed legislation in Congress giving the tobacco
industry immunity over future lawsuits the way to go? Critics were in
Irvine yesterday at a UCI-sponsored day-long event, including a panel
discussion. "Subversity", a public affairs program on KUCI, will present
this evening excerpts from the discussion. Panelists include former FDA
Commissioner David Kessler (now Dean of Yale Medical School); Mitch
Zeller, associate FDA Commissioner; and Luanne Nyberg, Public Health
Advisor, Minnesota Attorney General's Office, which has sued the tobacco
industry over the harmful effects of the substance.
