Green candidate Medea Benjamin's talk at UCI

Irvine -- Alternative News this afternoon features the talk given by Medea Benjamin, Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate, last Wednesday at UC Irvine.

Benjamin, who founded Global Exchange, questions whether the U.S. is actually a democracy in terms of its election procedures, arguing that money plays too inordinate a part in the process. She was an elections monitor in Haiti and Mexico, where she observed irregularities, but she wonders how "fair" elections are to third parties in the U.S.

She also discusses the minimum wage, and the Green Party platform.
